Drawing inspiration from the analogy made between the chinchorro hammock and the boa, I seek to represent that skin that wraps and protects each individual through silver tubes, which also symbolize the chambira tree trunk—the source where the palm bud emerges, later cut to create cumare thread. The tube embodies the birth of the fiber, and at the same time, the tunnel through which life—the fiber—passes away. The purpose of the chinchorro is also my goal with each piece: an amulet that embraces and protects the one who wears it.
